Bella Coola

Bella CoolaIt’s been several years now since I wrote in my writer’s blog. This first blog is to set an intention, to return to the dream that has been derailed for many years now. I am taking part in this year’s NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), and due to a change of rules, I am using it to finish the novel that I started during my first successful NaNo in 2008: Bella Coola.

Writing is for me, both splendid and not without fear, but I’ve decided the fear of finishing (and sending a novel out into the world) pales with the fear of living an unrealized life. I have wanted to be a novelist since I was 14 years old. I have made very public announcements of my intent to participate in NaNo this year and finish my novel. The reason for doing this is to keep myself accountable for sitting down at the computer and writing, come what may.

My goal is to finish writing this month, and to have Bella Coola ready for self-publishing in the spring of 2015. I’ve done a quick mock-up of the cover, which I include here, as a visible reminder of my goal.

So, with this “announcement”, it’s back to writing for me.
